When you telecommute,Get the Right Ergonomic Checklist Especially for Computer Work Articles work from home, work in the design industry, the computer field then you know of the importance of your comfort. You want to avoid strain, sit as comfortably as possible and do everything right to avoid having problems in the future. If you work in this type of industry then you know of ergonomics and how important they are. You know you have to make your ergonomic checklist.

Spending too much time in front of your computer can cause carpal tunnel syndrome and many other problems. Think about what you do and then make out your ergonomic checklist.

The Trackball Mouse

A good idea is to purchase a Logitech thumb trackball mouse and at first this may seem like a strange mouse to be using but you will get used to it and can avoid CTS this way. Still you should probably combine the trackball mouse with other types of mice, as sole use of the trackball can also cause damage to your thumb and fore finger.

The Wacom Graphics Tablet

This is a great tablet and comes with a mouse but the real ergonomic value here is the pen. With some practice you can use the pen for everything just as you would a mouse. Sometimes you want to consider a combination of mouse and pen.

Chairs

Most people that work behind a computer learn about the different aspects of most ergonomic chairs. There are many different ergonomic chairs to choose from, but before making a choice you probably want to read a few reviews to make sure you know what you are getting.

Your Desk

Before you get your desk you should get your chair. You want to focus on the height of the desk and see if you can find an adjustable height. When you sit down your chair arm rests need to be level with the keyboard. If the arm rests sit below the surface your body will be strained.

Look at other ergonomic checklists to make sure you have all the specs the way they should be. Your monitor needs to be about 18 to 30 inches from you and your eye level.

Even when you do have an ergonomic workstation you still need to take lots of breaks and do simple exercises on those breaks so you avoid injury. This way you can continue working for periods of up to eight hours a day.

For many people the ergonomic checklist may seem superficial and an unnecessary expense, but if you work with computers or at any job that makes you sit at a desk for more than eight hours a day then you really need to pay attention to ergonomics.
