Website Traffic: Dirty Tricks Behind Guaranteed Traffic

Driving traffic is important to website owners. But if you drive the wrong type of traffic, not only it gains you no sales, but makes you lose more money than you can ever imagine. This article is specially prepared to unveil the ugly side of "guaranteed traffic". If you don't want to dump your money into the sea, then read on...

When your website has everything in place and ready to go 'live' on the Internet, the next most important thing is to get traffic on your website.

No matter how professional your website looks, no matter how quality your contents are, if you have no visitors, your website is just a piece of junk.

Knowing that getting traffic determines the life and death of most websites, some people jumped on that opportunity and came up with the "guaranteed traffic" scheme to mercilessly squeeze money out of those who desperately need traffic to their website.

By the way, what is “guaranteed traffic”?

For instance, a traffic seller called John Doe offers his traffic packages on his website:

  • 20,000 guaranteed visitors at $60 – It means you pay $60 to him, and you'll get 20,000 people to visit your website
  • 250 guaranteed signups at $200 – It means you pay $200, and you'll have 250 people to opt into your database

Here’s the scenario of how John sends “guaranteed traffic” to your website.

Step 1: You pay John money

Step 2: John keeps half of the money and distributes the other half among his members who will then click to go to your website

Step 3: You get the number of visitors or opt-ins you required for your website. Your deal with John has been fulfilled.

[Note: you’re not John’s member, you’re his client only. John will have other websites that help him sign up free members who are always on standby to visit other people’s websites in return for some money.]

Such a scheme is commonly called “paid-to-click” or “paid-to-signup”.

That means, by simply visiting your website or opt into your database, John’s members get paid.

So, will this kind of visitors carry genuine interest in your product offer?

The answer is NO.

You ask those big-time gurus or experts around, none of them uses this scheme to generate traffic because they know this method drives visitors who are only interested in making money by visiting websites.

If you were looking for spare cash, you’d probably like this scheme.

But if you need serious people to hop on your website in order to create more sales, then those paid-to-click or paid-to-signup visitors are definitely not what you want.

So don't be too happy yet when you guaranteed visitors flocking to or signups via your website.

If you go check up on your sales, most likely you would be disappointed.

Who's actually making sales instead? John (of course!).

Hence, be careful not to fall into such “guaranteed traffic” trap.

Focus more on search engine traffic or advertise using pay-per-click, these are the better ways of getting serious visitors who are genuinely interested in your product offer.

Thus increasing your chances of grabbing more sales.

Side note: What’s the difference between pay-per-click and paid-to-click?

Pay-per-click is a type of advertising method such that whenever someone clicks on your ad, you pay. If no clickHealth Fitness Articles, you don’t pay. Simple as that.

Whereas paid-to-click is the type where the visitors are being “bribed” into clicking your ad to visit your website.

Paid-to-click advertising is not encouraged due to the involvement of vested interest whereas pay-per-click advertising is most welcomed by website owners.

An example of pay-per-click ads would be those ads (if any) on the right of Google search results.
