layer is designed to keep you dry, not keep you warm. Synthetic insulation such
as PrimaLoft as well as natural fibers like fleece and wool are all good
choices for an insulation layer as they will keep you warm even if wet. One
thing that should be avoided at all costs is cotton. Although it is very
comfortable, it retains moisture and is slow to dry. This can become a serious
problem in colder conditions where the risk of hypothermia is present.
Finally, an outer shell must be considered. This layer
should be waterproof in order to keep out the rain when the weather turns bad.
Gore-Tex is a popular choice, although it is not very breathable. If you are

significantly improved breathability.
