Do you know the 2013 SRT Viper? The new SRT Viper will go into production at the Conner Avenue Plant in Detroit late this year, which would target an on-sale date early in 2013. How amazing is it!
Do you know the 2013 SRT Viper? The Chrysler Group’s halo car is back, almost: the company released a new teaser photo of the iconic SRT Viper on the internet today, only a couple of months before the car’s anticipated New York Auto Show debut.
The new Viper is headed to the stage early in April, but that didn’t stop a teaser shot from making their way to mass media, like the face book, courtesy of the Street Racing Team. There’s not a whole lot to learn from darkened Viper image, but it appears as though we’ll see an updated Viper logo, LED-style light banks, and a unique front fascia that should move the new Viper away from the cross hair grille look of recent Dodges. An updated version of the Viper’s double-bubble roofline appears as though it will continue as a design cue.
Seeing as the new car’s design was allegedly inspired by a naked woman lying on the beach, we wouldn’t think the car will lose any of its hyper-masculine, pumped-up character. It is really excellent thing for car owners. It may lose some of its lackluster interior quality, however: SRT boss Ralph Gilles said that the interior was a focal point of the improvements to the new model.
The Viper also wouldn’t be complete without a gigantic engine undershoots, and that tradition should continue in the new generation. The car will likely be powered by a 650-horsepower, 8.7-liter V-10 engine that sends its power through a manual transmission (likely six speeds) and to the rear wheels. If so, that’ll best the previous base Viper by about 50 horsepower.
To keep the engine’s ferocious power at bay — and to satisfy government regulations — the car will definitely receive traction control in its newest iteration. Unknown is whether or not SRT will pursue a traction-control-based launch control system (akin to the Performance Traction Management systems in Chevrolet Corvettes) to keep 0-60 mph and quarter-mile times low. We suspect not, as SRT boss Ralph Gilles has previously expressed a desire to keep the driving experience pure and uninterrupted.
The new SRT Viper will go into production at the Conner Avenue Plant in Detroit late this year, which would target an on-sale date early in 2013. How amazing is it! As a Car Enthusiast, you cannot miss it. I am looking forward to seeing it in 2013.
