For an automatic transmission, the 2. 5L has an estimated miles per gallon of 21 in town and 30 on the highway. The 3. 7L has an estimated miles per gallon of 17 in town and 25 on the highway.

Mazda, being a leader in its industry, is no stranger to awards. The Mazda 6 has the same record. The 4-cylinder with an automatic transmission was awarded the U. S. EPA's SmartWay certification mark. This makes the Mazda 6 one of the most fuel-efficient and cleanest cars out there.
