Oil Change - Consequences of Not Getting One

People sometimes underestimate the importance of getting an oil change. People look at that little sticker in the top left hand corner of the windshield and think, well I am only two months late on my oil change, no big deal. It is a big deal though.

Getting an oil change can help your car to be the best that it can be. It may seem like such a small thing, however, keeping your lube up to snuff can help increase the number of years you car will last, increase your gas mileage and save you from having to do expensive repairs on your vehicle. When you really look at the problems your car could have from not getting its oil changed, you will be more than happy to spend that $25 every three months.

Just because your car has not reached three thousand miles, does not mean that you do not need to get an oil change. In other words, if it has been eight months and you have only driven your car two thousand miles that does not mean that you do not need to replace your oil. Oil goes bad not only by driving the car, but also by sitting. With this being said, do not let your car go that long without a lube modification. This can do just as much, if not more damage than driving with old motor oil in your car.

The purpose of having good, clean oil in your car is to keep all of the parts in the engine lubricated. When you keep old oil, or oil with low viscosity in your car, your engine will not run correctly. Friction can cause many different parts of the engine to rub together and wear down. This is not good for your car. It can cost you a lot of money to get parts replaced, or even thousands of dollars to get your entire engine replaced.

Your gas mileage will suffer when you do not get your oil changed regularly. With the rising price of fuel, everyone tries everything that they can to increase fuel mileage including adding expensive additives to their fuel tanks. Most people who are doing this do not even realize that just by getting an oil change on a regular basis can significantly affect the amount of miles you get per gallon of gas.

There really are no hard and fast rules when it comes to how often to get this procedure done. Nowadays some cars are being optimized for 6000 miles or 6 months. However, the older your car gets, the better care you are going to need to take care of it. If you are unsure when to get your oil changed make sure to address your car’s owner’s manual or use the oil indicator light, if your car is equipped with one. One thing always remains the same, do not let your car go longer than it is optimized to do so without getting a lube transferHealth Fitness Articles, unless you want to pay serious money for repairs.
