Porsche Cayenne is a midsize crossover SUV offered in S, GTS, and Turbo trim levels, while BMW X5 is a midsize luxury SUV offered in xDrive30i, xDrive35d, and xDrive48i trim levels. 

Power-Train Specs

2010 Porsche Cayenne S is powered by a 4.8-L V8 engine, which generates 400 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a Tiptronic S automated transmission. In performance tests, Cayenne S accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. The maximum towing capacity of Cayenne S is about 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.

Three engine choices are available on the new BMW X5, which comes powered by a 260 hp 3.0L inline-6 engines, 265 hp turbo-diesel inline-six engines, and 350 hp 4.8L V8 engines.

Personally, I love the BMW X5 as I’m a hardcore BMW fan, and proud owner of 2007 BMW X5, but I feel Cayenne is also a great option in the segment too.
