Last winter was abad cold winter in the UK. This winter the winter of 2010 to 2011 is going to be even worst. This small article by Eric K Roberts explores the advantage of fitting snow tyres to your car for greater safety in the expected severe weather conditions that have hit great Britain.
Last year the UK winter brought about a big freeze, this was unusual, as most winters in the UK are fed by mild westerly winds from the Atlantic ocean, but the winter of 2009/2010 was to be much different from normal.
This winter we were shocked by very cold winds bringing ice and snow from the east, in fact from mainland Europe including Russia. This caught many motorists out, causing them to skid and slip because they were running on summer tyres and not winter tyres. This together with the lack of motorists not checking their antifreeze, caused many problems on the roads of the UK, including frozen engines, and many accidents. Problems also increased for the drivers of 4x4 cars, these type of vehicles were just as vulnerable as normal two wheel drive vehicles, and indeed were the first people to panic and rush out and buy winter tyres. These type of vehicles are normally used by mothers on the school run and were the ones that were caught out after the first over night snow fall, many mothers were stranded causing many problems to other motorists, especially in hilly districts such as Halifax in West Yorkshire.
The motorists are preparing their cars much better in 2010, and are having their cars checked out and winter tyres fitted at good tyre dealers, Some garages are carrying out winter services for many motorists, and have large stocks of winter tyres to make for a safer winter for West Yorkshire motorists. Motorists on the European continent are much more used to snow and ice and in some countries it is the law to fit snow tyres in the main winter months.

POT HOLES May DAMAGE your Car Steering?
After the recent heavy snow falls motorists are having to cope with broken up roads and pot holes. This new hazard means that you must have your car checked for steering and wheel alignment problems before the tread on your tyres vanishes.Adjust your WHEEL ALIGNMENT for safer driving and even TYRE WEAR.
This small article points out the importance of having your wheel alignment checked and adjusted at regular intervals. Here in the uk we are plagued by local authority speed bumps, these bumps cause most of the problems. Also pot holes that usually appear afer winter are the scurge of wheel alignment.
