Have you ever wondered if you were blind because you aren't able to see the little chip that you were told required a complete windshield replacement? Be aware of tenacious sales people in Phoenix,Sun City Auto Glass: Be Aware of Illegal Auto Glass Claims Harvesting Articles Sun City, Sun City West and Youngtown with unreliable and unprofessional “fly by night” auto glass shops that offer to replace your auto glass…especially when there  really isn't anything wrong!

According to a recent June 2007 press release titled, “Windshield Repair Industry Responds to Illegal Claims Harvesting,” several windshield repair technicians in Phoenix, Arizona (including neighboring Sun City, Sun City West, Youngtown), have been arrested for insurance fraud. The National Glass Association (NGA) has issued an industry alert asking members to be vigilant for instances of “claims harvesting.” This involves the filing of fictitious insurance claims for windshield repairs that are never performed or charging insurance companies for more repairs than were actually delivered.

NGA Vice President Leo Cyr explained, “Windshield repair [in Phoenix and Sun City areas] at car washes and other automotive service centers is a perfectly legitimate and workable business model when executed with properly trained technicians doing legitimate repairs. The problem is not windshield repair or where those repairs are performed. The problem stems from the actions of a few people that tarnish a legitimate industry populated by dedicated professionals.”
Windshield Repair in Sun City – Going Green

Jay Sampson, Chairman of NGA’s National Windshield Repair Committee states, “Windshield repair professionals save consumers and their insurance companies millions of dollars annually."

Repairing and extending the useful life of millions of costly windshields.
Repairs also save the precious fossil fuels that would be wasted to produce replacement windshields.
Windshield repair saves money for customers and delivers “green” benefits - Every windshield saved is one less non-biodegradable windshield being passed to our already overcrowded landfills.

According to Leo Cyr, vice president of NGA's Auto Glass Division, "The NGA condemns any and all forms of fraud - insurance or otherwise. There can be no excuse for filing an insurance claim if the windshield is undamaged. By the same token, windshields are vital automotive safety components. To operate a vehicle with a damaged windshield could adversely affect proper deployment of some passenger side airbags, or, compromise the structural integrity and crush resistance of virtually all vehicles."

How can you be sure that this person is actually a professional auto glass technician?

Anytime someone approaches you at a car wash or parking lot, be sure to ask if they are an educated, NGA certified professional auto glass technician.
