If you're interested in twin-loop wire
binding and are looking for a machine, Tamerica recently released one
that you should check out. It's the Eco-34, a very durable wire binding
device that can consistently provide you with great results. Here's an
in-depth look at this product so you can learn all about what's great
about it and what might pose problems.
What's great:
The Eco-34 is
compatible with 3:1 pitch twin-loop wire spines. These binding elements
look really sophisticated and will make all of your documents look
really impressive.
You can use spines that
are up to 9/16" wide. This will give you a binding capacity of 120
pages, which is good for small and medium-sized documents such as
proposals.
The Eco-34 has a pretty good
punching capacity that will enable you to get your documents ready as
quickly as possible. This machine can punch as many as 15 sheets at a
time, so it won't take you very long at all to get your paper punched.
In
addition to having a good punching capacity, the Eco-34 has
disengageable dies and an open throat so you'll be able to prepare
paper of varying sizes. This will enable you to create books that are
smaller and larger than the standard 8.5" x 11" size. You can also
adjust the side margins and punching depth.
This
device would be a great choice if you're on the lookout for something
that's really durable. The machine is made completely out of metal so
you'll be able to use it on a regular basis and not worry about it
breaking down on you.
For a wire binding
machine, the Eco-34 is on the small side since it approximately
measures 16" (width) x 11" (depth) x 7" (height). It would be great for
work areas that don't have a lot of free space. Also, it weighs just 16
pounds so moving it won't be difficult at all.
The Eco-34 comes with a year-long warranty.
What could be problematic:
The
120-page binding capacity might be a problem if you think you're going
to need to bind really thick documents at some point. If that's the
case, you should choose a different machine.
This is strictly a wire binding machine. You can't use items such as plastic combs and color coils with it.
Like
a lot of Tamerica's machines, the Eco-34's handle is on the right side
of the unit. This is great for ambidextrous or right-handed users, but
it could definitely be an issue for left-handed people. A D-shaped
handle would have been a better choice.
As you can see, the Tamerica Eco-34 has a lot going for it. It
offers disengageable dies and an open throat, it has a good punching
capacity, and it's really durable. The binding capacity could be an
issue if you need or want to work with large documents, so you'll need
to decide if this device can bind as much as you want. If you decide
that the Eco-34 is right for you, you're going to love it. Take a look
at it today.
