- Home office: If you work from home, you still need to keep a tidy desk and working station. You also need to set up a separate space where you will perform your tasks. Simply sitting at the kitchen table won’t suffice as there are too many distractions in there. Plus, every night when you’re eating dinner, you’ll be thinking of the work-a-day chores that still need to be done on the same table. Have a separate space and include:

A desk: Even a small desk in an alcove will be satisfactory, as long as it’s separate from eating and living spaces.

Filing box: Depending on how much filing you’ll be doing, this may be a full sized cabinet, a drawer in your desk or a portable box with folders. It’s important to have a place to file away important documents, however, or they’ll wind up lost.

Trashcan: A small trashcan must be close by or garbage will begin piling up. Having a receptacle directly under your writing space will be a handy location.

Computer: Laptops are so much easier and more portable. Get a good one and dust it periodically.

-Home office cleanups: If you’re toiling from home, chances are good that a maid won’t be stopping by. This means you’ll need to regularly dust, vacuum, empty the trash and water your own plants. You will feel invigorated by this neat area and your productivity will increase.
