Benefits of Caterers Liability Insurance for the Catering Van Business

A lot of caterers resent that councils require them to have a caterer’s liability insurance policy, because they do not understand the importance of it. Not having this fundamental element in place, could mean disaster for the business.

Catering liability insurance is a great way to arm the small catering van business. A successful business like this will mean a lot of customers who would not hesitate to come back for more. Some are surprised at how good the food is in these catering vans, which are convenient in their location most of the time.  However, it would be a tragedy when someone endangers this type of business unexpectedly and there is no insurance protection. This should never happen to any catering business and it would be best for the owners to check the different kinds of insurance that is available for catering vans and the like. Some insurance is required by local councils, and some is optional.

But it doesn’t really matter what the catering van business sells, whether it is ice cream, hamburgers, wraps or just sandwiches, the business is required by the relevant authorities to have at least one form of catering van liability insurance, for this will protect the customers and the business. It would, of course, depend on the type of catering van chosen, the equipment used for the business and the value of the van. Not many people are aware of the benefits of the insurance policy. All they tend to  think about is the level cost involved.

1.  The insurance policy is protection for the business and makes it more stable. Should an accident occur that could involve either the company property or for the employees, a lot of money would have to be paid out to take care of the expenses related to the incident. The costs can involve hundreds of thousands of pounds and this is moneyArticle Search, which the company cannot afford to lose.  It could actually shut down a business permanently. Choosing to ignore the insurance requirement will not help the business.

2.   Caterer’s liability insurance is also protection to the public who eat the food prepared by the company. The unexpected can always happen when least expected and usually at the most inconvenient of times. Take for example if the catering van should injure someone. Without the insurance the company could be in a whole lot of trouble. It would also depend on how the company is set up. The owner could be held personally liable for costs. It would not be right for a business person to lose their home because of a catering claim.

There are other benefits for the catering van business if they have liability insurance. Many related types of insurance are available to protect and benefit the business and it is prudent to have an awareness of them all.
