These bees with their queen will look for another hive to form a colony, but this can be avoided by either transferring them manually to a new hive or stopping the queen from leaving by clipping her wings. If they do swarm, they may build a new hive up on trees or even your neighbor’s garden and if that happens, people might have those bees exterminated.

Requeening may be necessary every 6 weeks, usually during July and August. This is necessary especially if the queen bee has done enough for the colony. Prior to winter, honey production might be increased. 

During the harvest, only get a portion of honey and leave not less than 15 lbs. for the bees. The bees could be malnourished and ultimately die if you have taken all the honey. The honey is the safety of the bees, this is their food and they need it especially in the winter months. If they don’t feel any security from scarcity of honey, the entire colony may die because the queen could just stop performing her job.
