Buying a Used BMW

Many motorists are interested in buying a used BMW for their personal mode of transportation. Here are some things to think about.

Purchasing a used BMW is on the possibility list for many motorists. Some cars don’t hold up very well and after accumulating a slew of miles may not be worth much but this isn’t the case with this type of auto. The initials B.M.W. stand for Bavarian Motor Works. This is a German company that makes cars, motorcycles, bicycles and began producing these transportation vehicles back in 1916. The man who started the business was named Franz Josef Popp.

Some of the reasons that the automobile is so popular include resale, appearance, dependability, environmental benefits and functionality.

- Resale: When a person buys a new or used car, it helps to know that he or she could turn around and sell it down the road for nearly the purchase price. A few years ago, Consumer Reports did a study to see which autos were closest to their original sticker price several years later. Various European and Japanese cars made the “top ten list” while many American cars only made it to the lower echelons. American automotive makers are trying to turn that trend around. BMW was listed as a top contender a few years ago and the trend still holds today. One of the reasons these cars hold their value is because they’re fairly rare. When an owner has a great car, he or she usually holds on to it so not as many appear on the used car market.

- Appearance: The classic lines of this sedan made by Bavarian Motor Works makes the vehicle easily recognizable and a stand out from the crowd. Instead of changing the body, fenders and grill every few years, the designers have stuck with the classic tried-and-true. Other manufacturers may try to copy the lines, but they can’t match the real one.

- Dependability: This car is reliable. It is well engineered and safe, too. Not only are they dependable from the start, they stay that way. BMWs can be driven for hundreds of thousands of miles and still be ready for more.

- Environmental benefits: Engineers have worked to produce sedans and coupes with low emissions and fantastic fuel efficiency. This company has even been recognized by the EPA for its standards. The EPA is the Environmental Protection Agency which is a governmental watchdog agency that watches over planetary concerns.

- Functionality: Anyone who has ever driven on the Autobahn knows which cars perform well and which ones don’t. The Autobahn is a stretch of highway in Germany where there are no speed limits. Drivers may get tickets for going too slow but they may go as fast as they want as long as they operate their vehicles safely. The only cars that are able to vroom along smoothly are the ones that are made extremely well. Try to keep up on the Autobahn in a clunker or even a newer cheap car and the things will begin to shimmy and shake when the speedometer nears 100 MPH. BMWs and other well made cars vroom past as smooth as silk.
Buying a used BMW is a sound investment in an automobile. These cars hold their value, look good, are dependableFind Article, efficient and perform exceptionally well.
