Seven Ply (7-Ply) corrugated boards is a very tough form of corrugated sheets which comprises of five fluted sheets and seven flat line boards that separated the fluted sheets from one another.

This combination is known as seven ply corrugated boards. These sheets are widely used in shipping containers and corrugated boxes manufacturing industries to fulfill the purpose of packaging and shipping. This corrugated medium is designed using heavy paper – pulp which makes the boards strong enough that resist even in harsh,Determine the Burst Factor of Seven Ply Corrugated Boards with BS Tester Articles wet and adverse working conditions. The 7-ply corrugated sheets are widely used in paper and packaging industries to manufacture high-strength and high-quality corrugated boards and fiberboards that are used in different production verticals to serve the purpose of packaging. With the wide usage of this packaging material in different sectors, it is essential for the manufacturers to test the quality of the products before delivering to final customers.

How the Quality of 7-Ply Sheet can be Determined?

The quality of multilayered fiberboards and 7-ply corrugated boards can be tested by determining various properties of papers and boards such as bursting strength, burst factor, water absorptiveness, tensile strength, edge crush strength, dart impact strength and many more. All these properties can be measured using quality testing instrument. Out of the mentioned properties, the most prominent property of paper is its bursting strength that helps to determine the quality of paper to a great extent.

How Bursting Strength of the 7-Ply sheet can be calculated?

The Bursting Strength of a material can be determined by subjecting the material to a specific amount of hydraulic pressure using a rubber diaphragm. This process provides a specific amount of pressure to test at what pressure the sample will burst. This helps to measure the maximum strength of the materials so that the product can be delivered safely to the end customer without affecting its quality.

Presto Stantest offers a wide array of Bursting Strength Tester to test the quality of different types of papers and paperboards. The instrument is provided with a digital indicator that measures the force which is required to burst the sample and displays the bursting strength of the material on the digital display. The testing machine complies with various standards such as ASTM D3786/ BS 3137, ISO 3303-1:2012, ISO 2758, IS – 1060 – 1987, ISO 3689-1983. Apart from calculating the bursting strength of a material using Presto’s Bursting Strength Tester, the bursting factor and burst index of a material can also be calculated using the value of bursting strength which is displayed on the digital panel using following formulas:

Bursting Factor = Bursting Strength (Kg/cm2) x 1000 / Grammage (g/m2)

Burst Index = Bursting Strength (Kilopascal or KPa) x 0.10197 / Grammage (g/m2)
