Unibind machines are some of the most unique
thermal binding devices in the world. These devices make it easy to
quickly produce professional-looking documents for presentations,
meetings, distribution, and so on. If you own one of these devices,
there are a few things you can do to get the most out of it. Here are 5
tricks you can use.
One of the most important thing you can do is
cover the right cover or spine for your work. This not only entails
choosing one that's the appropriate length, color, etc., it also means
choosing one that's large enough to accommodate all of your document's
pages. The thing about Unibind spines is that there is steel in them
which means they can't be compacted or expanded. You need to choose the
spine that's just right for your work otherwise the pages will either
fall out or they won't all fit. If you need help determining which
spine you should use, there's a tool called the Unibind Spine Measuring
Guide you can use.
Before you bind your
work, you'll want to make sure that the pages are completely flush. The
adhesive in the spine will be activated as soon as you set it on the
machine which means that, unless your pages are in the right place,
they won't be in the finished product. To make the pages flush all you
really need to do is tap the document against a hard surface. It's
pretty easy.
Unibind machines can process
more than one document at a time and that's true even of the XU138, the
company's smallest device. Binding more than one book at a time will
definitely help you save time and it can even reduce your power
consumption.
Once you've got your
documents ready to go, you can begin binding them. When the machine has
worked its magic and they're done, they need to be moved to a cooling
rack so the adhesive can set. When you move them, be careful because
the spines will be extremely hot and it's ridiculously easy to get
burned. One thing you should do as you're moving them is to once again
tap them against something hard to settle the pages. (Just be careful
when doing so.)
Finally, you need to let
the books cool completely before you do anything else with them. This
can take a while (anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes is the right amount of
time), but it's worth it because you won't need to repeat the process.
You don't even need to leave them on the cooling rack for the full
amount of time. Just don't open the books up and start using them
otherwise you'll find that the pages start falling out.
These 5 tips will make it easier to get the results you need
whenever you use your Unibind binding machine. And you really can't go
wrong with tips that make an easy task even easier. Bind some documents
with your Unibind device today.
