Fluoropolymer tubing is the polymer product that is developed to use in various industrial applications like food, medical, chemical, aircraft, military applications and others. This type of tubing is used in the form of PTFE, FEP or PFA tubing system to protect the wires and cables and others from any disaster. Also, the Fluoropolymer can be used to make Teflon sheets and spiral wrap.

As a general practice,Fluoropolymer Tubing: The Backbone of Operations in Various Industries Articles people consider tubes for transmission of materials and elements from one end to another, and therefore do not pay any attention towards their build up or maintenance. Generally, tubing system is mainly used in hospitals for transmission of blood and glucose in the body of the patient. But, it would be interested to know that there are various tubing system constitutes the backbone of the industry and helps not only in proper working of the products developed, but also plays an important role in controlling any type of hazardous unfortunate accidents, which might result in loss of life and money due to excessive operating in those industries.

Let's, talk about fluoropolymer tubing, its name came into existence about 70 years back and since its inception, it is emerged as the mainstay for every industry, which is operating in the field of chemical preparation, technical equipments and working in the field of science. Recognized for its versatile features like chemical resistance, heat resistance and non-sticky nature, the tubing system is highly preferred in aerospace, semi-conductor, electrical and chemical processing industries. With an ability to operate smoothly even at the temperature about 500° F, this type of tubing is almost used in all those industries which operate their activities for long hours. It would not be wrong to say that the fluoropolymer tubing system is capable of working in all types of generation next industries. If you visit any industry, you will find this tubing being used in the form of straight, corrugated, retractable, convoluted, thinner wall and others.

Here, one thing which needs to be mentioned about the fluoropolymer tubing that depending upon the use of industries, this type of tubing system is mainly divided into three categories, which are:

PTFE Tubing: Referred as polytetrafluoroethylene, PTFE is fluorocarbon in which glue is transited into a powder format and then mixed with few elements before finally using it in the tubing. This type of tubing system is mainly used in different types of applications because of multifarious features, performing on high and low temperature, chemical and weather resistance, low coefficient of friction and electronic insulation. The physical properties of PTFE Tubing are mentioned below:

  • Tensile Strength: 2000-3000 psi

  • Bearable Temperature Range: -450° F to 500° F

  • Elongation at Break: 200-450%

  • Hardness: 50-65 Shore

FEP Tubing: Carrying the same features as offered in PTFE, FEP Tubing is mainly recognized for its gaseous and sponginess properties. Apart from this, it is also blessed with features like low heat shrink and clarity. The physical properties of this system are mentioned below:

  • Tensile Strength: 4000 psi

  • Bearable Temperature Range: -450° F to 400° F

  • Elongation at Break: 250-330%

  • Hardness: 55-60 Shore D

PFA Tubing: Alike FEP tubing, PFA is also recognized for its gaseous and sponginess features, but, is blessed with superior UV transmission ratings. Although, it carries similar features as offered in FEP tubes, but compared to it is more flexible and transparent. It's physical characters are discussed below:

  • Tensile Strength: 4200 psi

  • Bearable Temperature Range: -450° F to 500° F

  • Elongation at Break: 400%

  • Hardness: 55-60 Shore D
