Strengths / Features:

• The GBC SC-032 is actually very small. It comes with a small four gallon basket that will conveniently fit almost anywhere. Or if you want, you can remove the shredding head from the top of the basket and you can place it on your existing round or rectangular trash can with an opening between 12" and 14.25" wide.
• The SC-032 can strip cut up to six sheets of paper at a time without the need to remove staples or paper clips before shredding. This is ideal for dealing with junk mail and credit card applications that come in the mail. It is also an excellent option for office use in destroying documents with sensitive customer information or financial data that should not be thrown in the trash.
• The SC-032 cuts documents into strips that are 9/32" (7mm) wide. It can be set to shred automatically when paper is inserted into the throat. It can also be turned on manually or set to reverse mode in order to help deal with paper jams.

Weaknesses / Limitations:

• The throat on the SC-032 is only 8-5/8" wide. It is designed for shredding letter sized sheets that are fed with the short end first. However, with such a small throat, sheets that are fed crooked can easily become jammed in the shredder. Using the SC032 it is important to feed sheets squarely into the shredder in order to prevent paper jams.
• The Shredmaster SC-032 is designed for shredding small volumes of paper in a small office or personal setting. It is designed for shredding up to 250 sheets per day. However, if you attempt to shred continuously for more than two minutes, the shredder may turn itself off to protect the motor. The shredder will need to sit for approximately thirty minutes if this occurs. This means that the SC32 is not ideal for any applications where volume shredding may be required.
• The SC-032 shreds at a speed of approximately ten feet per minute. As far as shredders go, this is actually quite slow. This means that the shredder can handle a single sheet of paper in approximately six seconds. For users who need to shred a few sheets per day this should be adequate. However, it is very slow if you need to shred a stack of paper.

Recommendation:

• The SC-032 is ideal for users who want to place a small shredder under or beside their desk. It is small enough that it won't get in the way and is more than adequate for allowing users to shred a few documents without ever needing to leave their desks.
• However, the SC32 is not ideal for any type of volume shredding and is not a good solution for anyone who needs to shred more than a few sheets of paper at a time.
• The limited width of the throat on the SC-32 and limited shredding capacity that it offers makes should be noted before choosing this shredder.
• Still, the GBC Shredmaster SC-032 comes with an excellent 2 year warranty on the entire unit and comes with a 5 year warranty on the cutting heads.
