Just follow these directions:
Take the
Star out of the box if you haven't already. Place the machine on a level
surface and open the lid. Make sure the chip tray (located at the
bottom of the device) is in place and put the punching handle in the
upright position.
At this point,
you should begin punching holes in your document. The Star can punch up
to 7 sheets at a time. Don't punch more than this amount - doing so can
wear out the punching dies prematurely. The machine has a vertical
punching mechanism, so just place your paper in it and lower the
punching handle. Don't forget to punch your document's covers.
Now
you need to select a comb for your document. The Star has a built-in
comb selector in the comb storage ray to help you out. Just slide it out
from the right side of the device, measure the thickness of your
document, and choose your comb. This machine can bind documents that are
up to 150 pages long, so hopefully your work is suitable for binding
with this device.
After you've
selected your comb, place it on the Star's comb opener. The comb opener
is distinguishable by the metal teeth that are in the middle of the
machine. Pull the comb opener lever forward. (The lever is the on the
left side of the machine.) Once the comb is open, start placing your
pages on the comb's fingers. Make sure you start with the front covers
and pages so your document will look more professional when you're done.
When
you've added all your pages, go ahead and close the comb by pressing
the lever back. Remove your document from the Star and continue binding
if you have more documents to process. Once you're done, put the
machine's lid down so you can keep everything clean.
If
you ever need to make changes to your bound documents, it's no problem.
Just punch your new pages (if necessary), re-open the comb, and add and
remove pages as necessary.
You
should empty the chip tray regularly. This will make it easier to bind
your documents because the punching dies will stay nice and sharp. Also,
if you need to move the Star around, it's no trouble because the device
has a built-in carrying handle.
Binding
your documents with the Fellowes Star comb binding machine is really
easy, as you can tell by reading the steps listed above. All you really
need to do is punch holes in your documents, select and open a comb, and
