Laguna Beach Photographer offers Email Strategy

Orange County Photographers can increase the amount of session they book by forming an effective email strategy.

A monthly newsletter is an effective way for an Orange County photography business to stay in touch it's clients and potential clients. However, in order for this marketing strategy to be effective a photographer needs to develop methods of and become proficient in gathering and using e-mail addresses. This article suggests several ways that have proven effective.

1. Directly on your website home page, include a form for gathering email addresses. Let theses website viewers know that you will email them specials, tips, and photography current event items.

2. Store your e-mails in a way that allows you to add an individual e-mail to a particular category of e-mails. A photographer's message to high school seniors will be significantly different from one to the recent mother of a newborn. By segmenting and targeting emails, a photographer can gain a better response rate.

3. Include impact graphics in your e-mail marketing messages. You are after all a photographer. Images are at the heart of what you do. Your clients will judge the visual effects of your communications at a higher standard than those of most other businesses. 

4. At weddings, have a booth setup for shooting portraits of the guests. Have an e-mail list in which guests can write or type in their e-mail addresses so that they can receive notification of when their pictures are ready to view.

5. Add asking for e-mail addresses a part of your everyday conversations. Often upon introducing yourself to others, people will ask your profession. When you tell them you are a photographer they will often say they have been thinking of getting their pictures taken. At that point you can tell them that if you can have their email address you will alert them to any specials you may be having.

5. Add items of interest to your communications. The target audience for many photographers is women between the ages of 21 and 45 with several thousands of available discretionary income. Most photographers should target this group.
