Laguna Beach Photographers: Increase Earnings Without Increasing Sessions

Orange County photographers are usually extremely busy people. If they don't shoot, their businesses do not make money.

A professional Laguna Beach photographer can only shoot so many sessions in a month. In order to increase beyond that number, he must increase the amount he makes on each session. The following is a list of ideas on how a photographer can do just that.

1. Raise your prices. Of course to follow this advice, you've got to have the demand to support the raise in prices. If you raise your prices too high your revenue could actually fall as you begin booking fewer jobs. However if you are getting more calls than you are able to fill than raising your prices by 10-15 percent will likely have the net effect of increasing your earnings.

2. During family sessions and wedding receptions, get a variety of couple and group shots. If you are shooting a large family reunion, getting shots of individual children, couples and family units will increase the amount made on each job as clients purchase both the group picture and the individual group pictures.

3. Encourage your clients to purchase larger prints. This can be done during the purchase consultation session. When you project the images on the screen for your client, show them the largest size that you offer. Even if they indicate they want to purchase a number of 8 X 10's still show them the larger sizes. You can explain that you understand what they wish to purchase but that they will be able to make better decisions on which image to select because they will be able to more easily see the details in a larger projection. When they are ready to order, show them the smaller size that they wish. After becoming accustomed to the largest size the smaller one will look extremely small in contrast. Many will opt for a larger sized print.

4. Introduce your clients to gallery canvas wrap wall collections. Often when clients see how a number of portraits can compliment one another when hanging on a wall, they are desirous to have that effect in their home and purchase a number of gallery wraps instead of just the one they wanted originally.

5. Offer mini-session. Basically this is simply several families sharing one session. This is often a win-win with client's who simply want pictures for their yearly holiday cards. They really don't want to make a huge order (like a family that hasn't had its pictures taken in 10 years might); they simply want one or two great images. By scheduling 3 families for one session a photographer can make it worth his time by getting 3 orders from one session instead of just one and the family gets a reduced price.

Orange County photographers usually love their work. HoweverFree Reprint Articles, they also love their families. By following the above suggestions to increase their earnings on each they will be able to better provide for their families and spend time with them.
