Newport Beach Photographers: Effective Marketing Tips

Orange County photographers can improve their marketing by following the tips in this article.

If you live in a community of any size there are likely a number of photography businesses. Likely most of them have a good product. Yet some businesses thrive and others just get by. What makes the difference? In most cases it comes down to effective marketing. This article looks at several ways in which a photographer can market effectively.

Send out an email newsletter. Do this effectively, a photographer needs to get request email addresses whenever he gets a chance, offer minimal promotional material so clients will feel inclined to read the newsletter and keep the newsletters regular so people will expect them.

Partner with other local businesses. Offer to decorate their walls for free. This is a win/win for both the photographer and the local business. The photographer gets free exposure and the business gets a facelift to their walls.

Seek referrals. Offer incentives to your satisfied clients to refer people your way. When you send out product to clients, include business cards with their packaging. Setup relationships with other vendors (this works especially well when you are seeking weddings). Bridal shops, florists, hotels and resorts all are in the wedding business. Setup mutually beneficial relationships where you refer one another.

Create a Facebook page. Tag your clients with their pictures after shooting. This will allow all of your client’s friends to see your work.

Offer holiday specials during the summer months. This will allow you to use your slow season effectively and help people avoid procrastination.

Participate in some charitable auctions. This is a great way to help others and get exposure for your work. Most of the people who participate in these events are well heeled – thus if you your work is high quality you’ll likely get high orders from this clientele.

The photography market is competitive. Those who succeed usually have both a quality product and effective marketing. The above demonstrates ways a photographer can market effectively.
