Newport Beach Photographers: Evaluating Online Purchasing and Proofing Software

Orange County Photographers work in a competitive environment. To do well they must streamline their online purchasing and proofing system.

The digital revolution has fundamentally changed the way photographers work. One of the most positive changes has been the advent of online purchasing and proofing. These tools have allowed the photographer to offering proofing and ordering services for his products to anyone in the world.

A number of software packages and web products have been developed in order to meet the demand for this service. The following is a list of items a photographer should consider when deciding which will fit well within his business plan.

1. How much complexity does the interface have and will that complexity be welcomed by the majority of your clients. Some packages allow the client to view the image in black and white, sepia and other tones. They will allow for choice of a variety of different papers. They allow for the purchase of frames and silks, prints and gallery wraps. Some clients will be thrilled to have all of these options.
Others will be overwhelmed by all of the options. One of the reasons they hired a high end photographer and are willing to pay a high price is so that the photographer will personally guide them through this process. These customers will likely not be happy with all of the complexity. A photographer needs to access his clients and decide in which group the majority of her clients will fall.

2. How much customization does the site allow and does that fit into what the photographer wants to accomplish. For example, some software packages allow for the changing of the background colors to match the rest of their site. For a photographer who has worked hard to maintain a consistency throughout his siteArticle Submission, this will be important. Others may want to disable the option to view the images in black and white because they always provide their trademark black and white images (with all of the custom settings).

Online proofing and ordering has greatly changed the way photographers do business and is an essential part of any Laguna Beach photographer’'s business model. Considering the two above issues will help a photographer make the right choice in regards to this service.
