Singapore is one of the world's cleanest cities with clear pavements and streets. However,Pest Control - Origin Exterminators Articles like any other country, Singapore is no exception when it comes to pests.

There is a different underlying reality when it comes to Singapore's homes and business offices. It has a common problem plaguing them both - pests. Pests are not a problem just for the households in Singapore, they are a nuance for everyone everywhere else. Pest control isn't a popular topic discussed in Singapore but the problem is very real and it should not be ignored. So how do you tackle pest infestation problems? The ideal thing is to call an exterminator from a pest management service provider, or you can simply fight pests using chemical products or natural household items. Here are few natural ways on how you can control pests in your area:

  • Flies hate basil - Flies hate the smell of basil. It discourages them from entering your homes. Place basil pots near your doorways, windowsill and kitchen counter.
  • Spiders do not want citrus -Using a spray bottle, mix unsweetened lime and water and wipe your countertops or spray your doorways and windowsills with the mixture. Spreading around lemon, orange and lime peels in your garden can deter spiders.
  • Vinegar keeps ants away - Make a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and wipe off your countertops and anywhere you have seen ants.
  • Use natural predators against rodents - Attract barn owls to your property with an owl nest box. A barn owls brood can eat up to 3,000 mice during their nesting season.
  • Fools wasps with fake nest - Wasps are territorial in nature and will not build a nest within 20 yards of another nests. So either build a fake one or buy one, it'll act as a scarecrow for wasps.
  • Repel mosquitoes with Catnip - Catnip repels mosquitoes more effectively than DEET. Grow Catnip in your garden or apply undiluted catnip oil against your exposed skin.
  • Kill fleas using salt – Spread table salt evenly then vacuum your floor diligently for nine days since fleas have three reproduction cycles. Salting and vacuuming your floors will kill flea eggs.
  • Cinnamon oil eliminates dust mites - Spray your bedding's, carpets, and any other places where dusts are accumulating with a 50/50 solution of cinnamon oil and water. Cinnamon oil is a good solution that can help you eliminate dust mites.
  • Trap fruit flies using an effective solution - Fill three quarters of a glass with vinegar, add eight droplets of dishwashing liquid and warm water to trap fruit flies.
