However, there are a couple of problems with this shredder, as well.
This review will look at this product's strengths and weaknesses. They

Strengths:
The most impressive thing
about this machine is its shredding capacity. It can destroy a truly
mind-boggling 60 sheets per minute, which is about 7 sheets per pass.
The
MS-450Cs can run continuously for 8 to 10 minutes, so you will be able
to get rid of a lot of unneeded paper in a very short time.
This
is a micro-cut machine for optimal security. It can turn a sheet of
paper into hundreds of tiny pieces that measure approximately 5/64" x
5/16".
The MS-450Cs can destroy some electronic media,
namely CD's and DVD's. Credit cards can also be destroyed with this
device, as can metal fasteners such as staples.
There is a
separate feed opening for non-paper items as well as a separate waste
bin. The capacity of that bin is 0.78 gallons, which is pretty small.
Safety
was a top priority when Fellowes was designing this machine and this is
evident in the inclusion of the SafeSense feature. This feature can
tell when hands are too close to the feed opening and when it does so,
the machine will shut off automatically.
There is a window on the exterior of the device so you can see when the waste bin is getting full.
This
product will cease operating when one of the three following conditions
occurs: a paper jam; problems with the waste bin; and/or if the motor
is overheating.
An auto-reverse function makes it easy to clear jams.
Some
other great user-friendly features are present including quiet
operation and casters that make it easy to transport the machine.
Finally, the machine looks very elegant and will make a very attractive addition to your office.
Weaknesses:
This device's feed opening is
only 8.75 inches wide. While this will be more than adequate for
shredding legal- and letter-sized documents, larger papers will need to
be folded or cut before shredding. Note that if you do decide to fold
your paper, the machine's shredding capacity will go down for that pass.
The
MS-450Cs was designed for use by one person, two at most. This is
reflected in the machine's waste bin capacity which is a scant 4.5
gallons. However, the bin is in a pull-out drawer, so emptying it is
pretty easy.
After the machine has run continuously for 8 to 10 minutes, it will need to cool off for 15 minutes before it can be used again.
Overall, the Fellowes MS-450Cs is a good choice if you'd like a
good-looking shredder for your office that can shred a lot quickly
while also having some nice user-friendly features, such as the
separate bin for media waste. Just be sure that you're comfortable with
