The Renz Combinette is a manual punch and bind system that can create up to 250 books an hour. Here is a look at some of this machine's strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths/Features:

1. The Combinette comes with a stated punching capacity or twenty five sheets per lift. This is a fairly impressive sheet capacity, and ranks the machine fairly high within its class. As with all punching and binding machines, however, you will probably have a little better luck in general if you stay just a little bit below that stated capacity when you are using the Combinette, as you will get cleaner punches with less margin for error.

2. The manual punching arm is well placed, easy to use, with a long handle that offers plenty of leverage and power.

3. The Combinette is a rugged machine, and all of its components are of metal construction. It appears that Renz is meeting the challenge of its competitors in the binding machine industry, and creating machines that are every bit as tough and able to stand the test of time as the rest of them. This appears to be a very durable machine, and we fully expect and anticipate that is would be up to the task of giving you years and years of service.

4. At around 19 x 14 x 3 inches, the Combinette is a very compact machine that you should be able to move around the office to wherever it may be needed and to store it away easily when it is not needed. This might make it a good choice for a busy but cramped office.

5. The Combinette features a double levered punching and binding system that makes the whole process both speedier and more accurate. Using this system, the user can open the plastic binding spines before the pages are punched, and can them place the pages directly into the open comb. Not only does this make the binding faster, as we said, it is a great way to make sure that the pages stay in the correct order, as you can place them right on the spine as you go.

6. The Combinette not only gives you the ability to punch up to 25 pages, you get enough speed to punch somewhere approaching five thousand pages per hour. You will also find that you can bind books that are up to 500 pages in length, and up to two hundred fifty book in an hour once you get a good rhythm going.

Weaknesses:

1. The Combinette does not have any disengageable punching pins, meaning that while you will be able to punch letter, legal and A4 paper sizes, you will have trouble with smaller and larger sizes, as you may end up with incomplete holes on the ends of the sheets.

2. This machine also does not come with an adjustable depth of margin punch control, meaning that your holes will always be the same distance from the edges of the paper. This can sometimes lead to problems in the durability and functionality of thinner and thicker documentsFeature Articles, respectively.
