When it comes to thermal binding covers many
of our customers have asked us what the difference between standard
thermal binding utility covers and the more expensive Prestige linen
covers. Both have linen weave backs and spines and can look very much
the same. However, there are several things that set the Prestige Linen
Covers apart from the utility variety. Here is a quick list...
Available
Sizes: Unfortunately, utility covers are only available with spines
1/2" thick or smaller. These sizes fit the majority of users in the
market. However, if you need a therma-a-bind cover with a spine larger
than 1/2" you will need to look at the prestige linen.
Lead Time: Utility covers are a stock item and are generally available
to ship immediately. Prestige Linen covers have a number of
customizable options that are not available with the utility covers.
However, since they do have the options, they are made to order and
take approximately 3 weeks to ship.
Front Cover Options:
Thermal utility covers are only available one way. They have a linen
weave back and spine with a 6mil clear front. Prestige linen supplies
are available with a number of different options for the front cover
including: a plain linen weave front, a clear 10mil front, a 10mil
frosted front and with a plain linen front with a window.
Color Options: Although there is a fairly good selection of colors in
thermal binding utility covers there are a few colors that are not
available in utility covers that are available in the prestige linen
covers. For instance if you are looking for grey linen you will need to
order prestige linen covers since they are not available in utility
covers. Prestige linen supplies are available in Maroon, Blue, Black,
White, Ivory, Green and Gray.
Both types of covers are fully compatible with all of the thermal
binding machines. However, for many people, the thermal utility covers
are perfect to meet their needs. They are less expensive and are ready
to ship immediately. However, if you are looking for thermal covers in
other colors, thicker sizes or with different front cover options you
may need to look at our Prestige Linen thermal covers.
