The hidden economics in seed germinationWhen a seed start germinate, the roots appear first and subsequent to that only the stem would appear..... The corporate growth is largely influenced or determined by two key factors viz., revenue generation and cost/resource management or optimization. Certain departments or functions like sales, marketing or other allied functions largely generate revenue for most organizations. Only when the revenue is generated, any organization can grow and expand further. Other functions like HR, R&D, Accounts and Finance etc., although exist in most organization as ‘consumers’ but has great responsibility in saving the cost wherever possible. These ‘cost cut masters; also can contribute to the bottom line of the organization. The corporate must sensitize all the functions to ensure and be innovative in saving the cost without cutting the corners or quality. Only together with all, any corporate can march towards growth and success. But who should ensure or train people to think in the above direction, the HR or CEO or the Entrepreneur? Every function and every employee irrespective of their designation or salary must exercise cost saving approach in the organization. Nature is practicing the above cost saving or resource saving measures very firmly and strictly through all the species of plants and animals except man. This astute wisdom and the sacred approach of how important the resource saving is, can be learned from plants during the seed germination. When a seed get dispersed by different means, it waits for the appropriate season to germinate. When onset of favourable season returns, the seed imbibe water and started to sprout. One need to watch keenly and creatively the entire process of germination only then the knowledge of the resource management how well understood by these tiny seeds will be known to the man. When a seed starts to germinate, only the roots appear first. The root then elongates. Only after the elongation process of root is over, the stem grows. The seed has very limited resource and it will be sufficient only for just sprouting. The root realizes the urgency and hence it grows fast. Only when it grows fast, it can start taking the nutrients and water to support further growth of the seedling. Knowing fully well about the limited availability of the resource, the stem grows slow than the root. When the root starts supplying the resource, the stem grows fast. By mistake also, this process would never change in any of the seeds. The nature has empowered not just the root to bring resource to the plant, it has also entrusted the responsibility of judicious utilization of resources with other parts of the plants like stem, leaves etc. Only by co-coordinated and collective approach, resource optimization can be achieved is what the working principle of nature.
