If you own a Powis Parker Fastback 15xs
binding machine you might be interested to know that a brand new
upgrade is available for your machine. The good news about this upgrade
is that it will add some great new functionality to your machine. The
bad news about the upgrade is that you will need your local Powis
Parker Fastback dealer to upgrade your machine for you since it
requires replacing a number of internal components and recalibrating
the machine. Even so, this upgrade is more than worthwhile considering
the improvements that it makes to your Fastback 15xs binding machine.
Here is a quick overview of the added features that you get with this
new upgrade...
The new upgrade to your Fastback 15xs
increases the binding speed of your 15xs by approximately 25% when
using Fastback Super Strip binding Strips. The previous binding cycle
for Fastback Super Strips was about 22 seconds per bind. However, with
the new upgrade the binding cycle will be reduced to about 17 seconds
per book. This allows you to bind as many as 48 more books per hour.
That is a huge increase in productivity for higher volume customers.
This is especially important for customers who are currently using
Speed Strips since Powis Parker is the process of discontinuing the
Speed Strip.
Your new upgraded Fastback 15xs binding
machine will be capable of handling Powis Parker's brand new CP binding
strips. The Fastback CP strip is designed for binding some types of
paper that were previously difficult (or impossible) to bind with
existing Fastback Strips. These CP strips offer superior adhesion for
laser print and color copier papers. If you are interested in learning
more about the new Fastback CP strip check out our recent article about
the release of the Fastback CP Strip by Powis Parker.
The
new upgrade will provide sharper binding edges for your documents and
reports. Prior to the model 15xs, a soft or rounded binding edge was
the standard finishing result. However, the model 15xs provided a menu
option for creating sharper, less rounded corners on your bind. Most
customers seem to prefer the sharper less rounded binding edge offered
by this setting and thus, the new upgrade for the 15xs will make this
setting the default for binding documents.
Finally, the
new upgrade for the 15xs binding machine will correct a firmware bug
that prevented users from saving their strip wrap settings. Previously,
when the user selected a different strip wrap from the menu, the
machine went back to the standard strip wrap (factory default) when it
was turned off. With the new upgrade, the machine will stay in the user
selected mode when the machine is turned on, unless the user goes back
into the menu to reset the strip wrap setting.
New Fastback model 15xs binding machines built after 3/9/2006 will
already have these upgrades installed. However, if your machine was
built prior to this date you will need to contact your local Powis
Parker dealer to enquire about upgrading your machine.
