Green is the way to be in today’s day and age. With gas prices through the roof and the continuous pressure from the Tree Huggers of the universe,Time Tracking Software Helps Companies Go Green(er) Articles more and more offices are going green(er). Recycling in the work place has become the obvious and common way that we can all be a help on the environment. And there is a long list of cool eco-friendly workplace ideas but I want to talk about just one: how implementing an online time tracking tool can help Mother Earth.

1.       Online timesheets – obviously the very nature of an online time tracking software is a green concept. By removing all of the paper timesheets that have been flying around the office, you can save reams of paper. (Only drawback? Fewer paper airplanes, shucks)

2.       Employees can work from home – allow your employees to work from home and keep track of who’s on the clock and what they’re working on from anywhere in the world. In Mike’s Doc Blog he mentions how allowing your employees to work from home is better for employee morale and ultimately the environment. Yes, there are some valid concerns that some businesses have with this concept, but it’s a great green idea that if harnessed correctly can give your company, including its bottom line, a boost!

3.       Wiki’s instead of user manuals – instead of producing fancy user manuals made of paper products and ink, your online time tracking tool can use wiki and cool videos for educating employees on how to use different features. Hop on an online webinar instead of trudging through a printed manual.

4.       Emails, blogs, and eNewsletters instead of mail pieces – all of the messages and updates that you receive from your time tracking company can be entirely eco friendly without the necessity to use any paper products.

5.       Internal emails, document systems, etc – all of a time tracking company’s internal documents could be printed and stored online in either Google docs or some other database service. Also, Gmail can be used to manage all of the emails, notes, and assignments.

Paper really can be scarce in an office where online time tracking is utilized. You will rarely find the need to borrow it from your neighbor! The exponential benefits of adopting an online time tracking tool, from the increase in productivity to your bottom line, go far beyond simply being voted the environmental friendly office of the year.  It’s worth a shot… try out an online time tracking solution and chances are you will find that Mother Earth isn’t the only happy camper!
