Tips Newport Beach Professional Photographers Can Follow to Effectively Utilize a Network

Newport Beach like other cities in Orange County has more than it's share of photographers. To effectively compete as a Newport Beach photographer one must utilize as many efficiencies as possible.

There are a number of new Orange County photographers entering the photography industry each year, making the field one of high competition. In order to effectively compete, a professional OC photographer needs to maintain an efficient system. Utilizing a computer network efficiently is one way to accomplish this goal. This article offers several tips to photography business owners on optimizing their computer networks to meet their business needs.

1. Increase the speed of your connection to the Internet. More than almost any other professional, photographers have need of a fast connection to the Internet. On a daily basis gigabytes of information need to be uploaded to proofing galleries, blogs, facebook, and off site negative backup locations. That is on top of the normal use of email and web browsing. There are three primary ways to increase the speed in which you can utilize the Internet. First, you can get a faster connection. Second, you can purchase a faster modem and third you can purchase a faster computer. By increasing the speed at which you can use the Internet, your workflow and client response times will decrease.

2. Utilize your old systems. Do you have a number of old systems that contains good, but not the latest, software? Utilize those old computers by running a number of actions on them on pictures over the network. Before leaving the studio each night Photoshop on one computer can increase the contrast on all of the images. Another copy of Photoshop or Lightroom can be adding a copyright text on images to be posted on a blog. Use one of the computers to begin the burning of a slideshow DVD.

3. Keep all of the information from each photo session in one folder and rename the folder to keep track of where it is in the process. For example, assign a number to each step of your editing work and update the folder with that number. For example if the family from your latest photo shoot is named Smith and the 10th step in your process is to add a watermark to images for uploading to the webFind Article, then rename the folder Simth10. That way everyone in your organization will know exactly where this particular session is in the post production process.

The photography industry is competitive. A professional photographer can improve his edge by improving by utilizing his computer network efficiently.
