Choosing a career sometimes feels like an enormous task. Now that you are getting ready to graduate you may be seriously trying to decide what type of career path you are going to take. However, you should not rush your decision as there are many types of careers to choose from and here are some things that you should consider be for you make any final decisions.

One of the best ways to decide on a career path is by looking at things that you love to do or are very passionate about. When you decide to make a living out of something you truly enjoy you are setting yourself for a lifetime of actually enjoying going to work. Many times people make a mistake by choosing a career just to try and get rich do it. This usually backfires because as you get older and get 10 or 20 years doing something that you don't enjoy you end up becoming very bitter and begin to dread work.

Almost anything that you enjoy doing can be cultivated into a way to make a nice living. For example if you love to cook. You can take that career path in several different directions. You can go to culinary school and study to become and executive chef or you can try your hand in the restaurant business. Cooking not your forte? What about the love of the outdoors? There are endless career options here, you could study the environment, become a park ranger, become a wilderness specialist, become a white water guide, and the list can go on.

So don't let people tell you discouraging things about your hobbies and things you love to do like, "You'll never be able to support a family doing that for a living." The truth is with a little creativity you can make a living doing just about anything. What do you think the parents of the child that developed the first video game thought? Now you literally can make a living playing and reviewing video games.

So where do you get started when you want to take a chance and do something you love doing to make a living? First talk to those in job markets that closely resemble what you want to do. Get their input as to where the industry you are thinking about entering is headed. Find out if you are going to need a college degree, technical training, or if it is more of an on the job learning experience. Also seek out those who have tried and failed, you can learn a lot from people that did not make it.

Now that you are getting ready to graduate there is going to be even more pressure for you to pick something that you want to do to make a living. Take your time choosing a career and make sure that it is something that you love to do.
