When yo apply to any role,Recruitment consultants errors when applying for jobs Articles you should take time to ensure your CV is error free. When you apply for recruitment consultants jobs, this is even more the case as the guys on the other are likely to look closer than most at what you have submitted. Despite this, it's still surprising how many recruitment consultants make really quite basic mistakes when constructing and submitting their own Cvs. Here's some of the worst.

Errors with spellings. It doesn't take much to proof read your own CV and then get someone else to do the same. And, of course, you have the red squiggly line on your screen to give you a clue that something isn't right. The worst thing is that in the age of the electronic CV, the guy receiving it will see the same dirty great red line that you should have seen, making it impossible to ignore spelling errors. To recruitment consultants it just looks like the candidate couldn't be bothered.

The use of block capitals. I still see it fairly frequently, but rarely get past the first line of the CV. It doesn't matter how good you are, block capitals used throughout a CV make it simply not readable. You can test this easily, print off a couple of paragraphs, one copy as normal and the other blaock capitals, you'll soon see what I mean. For some reason, some people just seem to think it's a good idea?

War and Peace Cvs. This can depend on the job sector, for example Medical Cvs tend to be almost a booklet on the candidate. However, for recruitment consultants jobs, normal rules apply, about 2 to 3 pages is the right length. You need to make sure there's detail about the last two jobs done, but further back, keep details top line. once you go beyond 3 pages you will be lucky to get recruitment consultants to read them all, then it becomes luck which detail they do and don't read.

The one page resume. This is the American way, just one side of A4, but over here in the UK it's just not enough detail to get yo an interview. Indeed, many recruitment consultants will assume you have nothing good to write! Even if you are a new graduate, you should be able to write a 2 page CV about the skills you have and experience you have which you feel is relevant.

Poor order on the CV. This is a more common and subtle mistake. People often start their CV with neutral information such as name, address, marital status, number and names of children. In most cases, recruitment consultants will scan a CV for as little as 10 seconds to determine whether to spend another two minutes. With this in mind, you need o get the most impactful stuff right at the top. Try opening up with your top achievements, then perhaps leading onto your recent work history. There's plenty of space for the mundane stuff at the end.

Given the importance of Cvs in determining the future of any candidate in any industry, it is surprising how many really obvious mistakes appear on the Cvs of recruitment consultants who really should know better! Take a little extra time an make sure you get it right.
