The LG Optimus Black is a premium Android smartphone which simply exudes style and class. It is packed with high end features, all encased within a slick and stylish handset.

So what’s so appealing about this device?  Well for starters,The LG Optimus Black Is A Feature Packed Android Smartphone Articles it has a large screen, 4 inches, to be exact. Also it is extra light, noticeably so at 109 grams. Both means that it fits in the hand quite well, and is a pleasure to hold and use but the lightness to it does not to rob us of the solid, robust feel that we have gotten to like in other top of the line phones.

The LG Optimus Black has the four capacitive Android keys at the bottom, and a 2 MP front facing camera at the top. The micro-USB, the headphone jack and the power/lock button are on the top but at the rim. There is a super-bright 4 inch-diameter NOVA screen to do the high definition job. The back is plastic, and is undecorated, shows only the 5 MP camera at the back with a single LED flash plus 720p recording capability.

The design seems clean and minimalistic. Turning it on, we see the NOVA in action. It boasts matching AMOLED with significantly lower power consumption, up to 50% in fact. For those who may be unable to charge their phone regularly, this will come as a massive relief.

It is powered by Froyo, so there are the usual Leapview, seven homescreens, a nicely usable keyboard app, and a useful camera, music player and gallery. Froyo supports Flash as well, at least to the level of Lite, but that seems to be enough to play a number of games online. All these are seasoned with some smart LG tweaks starting with Gesture UI enabling you to access messages and missed calls from the lock screen and thanks to the accelerometer inside, you can give commands by lifting, twisting, tapping, shaking the phone to answer calls or to open the camera app.

There is no HDMI capability, but there is the function to forward media content to DLNA-enabled devices like big screen TVs, Xboxes and Win7 PCs.

As the phone is not out yet, there are quite a few rumours concerning the LG Optimus Black’s pricing. It is said that it will be slightly underpriced compared to the competition, which may be enough to give LG an edge over the fierce competition in the smartphone market, which seems to be dominated by HTC and Samsung… at least, the non-iOS-share is. Also, LG has promised that Froyo shall be upgradable to Gingerbread.

Whatever price point the LG Optimus Black sits at, there is no doubt it will prove a popular device. It boasts all the bells and whistles of many top-end Android smartphones, but does not sacrifice its aesthetic appeal to achieve this.
