The Motorola Milestone was an impressive handset when it was first released. It offered a high level of functionality combined with great aesthetics. Motorola has recently released the Milestone 2, which offers a number of upgrades over the original model.

 The handset measures 116.3x 60x 13.7 mm,The Motorola Milestone 2 Features A Fast 1GHz Processor Articles so it is comfortable to hold and use, and highly portable, yet ample enough to accommodate the 3.7 inch screen.  This TFT capacitive touchscreen can display up to 16 million individual colours with the utmost brightness and clarity within a pixel resolution of 480x 854.  This makes it a great phone for viewing photos and videos as well as gaming and browsing the internet.  There is a separate slide out QWERTY keyboard which reveals itself from beneath the screen, and offers a speedy and efficient means of entering text.  This makes the Motorola Milestone 2 the perfect mobile phone for prolific email users and text messagers.

 

Both vibration and ringing are utilised to alert users to incoming calls and messages and other alerts such as emails.  Users have the added bonus of being able to assign MP3 and WAV files as ring tones, meaning they can customise the sound of the handset.  Carrying out handsfree calls is easy enough thanks to a built in speakerphone system and a 3.5 millimetre audio jack.

 

8 GB of on board storage is provided as standard, which means that numerous files can be stored within the handset.  Whilst this is generous in itself, there is also a microSD card slot which comes with a pre-installed 8 GB card.  This means that users have 16 GB of storage at their disposal right out of the box, meaning that an entire digital music collection can be stored within the phone.  On the rare occasion that more than 16 GB is required, the 8 GB memory card can be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB.

 

Browsing the internet is an enjoyable experience with the Motorola Milestone 2.  A fast and reliable HSDPA connection is available in areas with 3G coverage; however an enhanced browsing experience is possible thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity.  In locations where users have access to wireless networks, they can enjoy a faster browsing experience.  GPRS and EDGE keep the handset connected to its appropriate cellular networks, whilst Bluetooth and USB are provided as standard which allow users to connect the handset to compatible devices.  By doing this they can carry out a number of different tasks such as transferring media files or backing up contact information.

 

There is a 5 mega pixel digital camera located on the back of the handset.  Not only does is take the superb quality still images thanks to its pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 and built in features such as Autofocus and image stabilisation and dual-LED flash, it can also shoot video in high definition.  This is in 720p quality, and thanks to DLNA, users can wirelessly stream their photos and video footage to a compatible handset, and enjoy their handiwork on the big screen.

 

The Android operating system, in this case version 2.2, works in conjunction with a powerful 1GHz assessor to provide a speedy and powerful user experience.  It also allows additional applications to be downloaded, meaning that users can customise their phone to on the phone and add to its functionality to their hearts content.

 

Thanks to its versatility, heaps of on board storage, digital camera and slide out keyboard, the Motorola Milestone 2 ticks all the boxes, and truly offers something for everyone.
