All Abut Exchange Server Repair and Restore

At times on opening your MS Exchange server, you find that there is an error message from the server. The main reason for such kind of error is the loss or corruption of some database files of Exchange Server.

General problem faced is that the user is not able to access the information or data held by the files in the outlook. To get this data back you will have to restore Exchange Server and to restore it you will need a backup. If there is no backup created then you will have to go for another option and that is that you will have to go for Eseutil utility that helps in repairing the database instead of restoring it. But there may be times when you receive the same message even after using the utility. During this case you will have to look for a third party that can effectively repair or restore your Exchange Server.

Let’s make it simpler with an example:

Suppose your database is corrupted and on access to your Exchange Server, you get an error message “Error -1216 (JET_errAttachedDatabaseMismatch)” and then the data recovery is stopped. After viewing this you will come across the entry about the type of event, its source, category, ID, timeScience Articles, user and also the computer type. You also get the description about the failure that occurred. It will tell you from where the files have been corrupted or from where the files have been removed. It will tell you about the main reasons of the error message you receive. You can also face such errors if the data files have been renamed or shifted from the original location.

The main reason of the error message received above is the deletion or replacement of the critical files in the system that where used for the access of the database in the Exchange Server.

Below are the steps that can help you in resolving the problem that lead to the above error message:

1.    Use Eseutil utility command for repairing the database of the Exchange Server
2.    If the above command fails then you can restore the data from the backup that was created.
3.    If the backup is not available then go for commercial Exchange programs that are available for repair and recovery of the database.

Exchange Repair Software is very useful and also powerful software for this purpose and despite its usage it is very user friendly.
