If you are on Great Plains Dynamics GP version 10.0 or 9.0, all you need to do is either download Payroll tax update (first wave was released on December 17th 2008) from Dynamics GP Customer Source or call your Great Plains reseller and have them to update your Payroll tax tables and W-2 and 1099 forms.  However,Dynamics GP Partner Newsflash: 2009 Payroll Tax Update Articles we expect that large numbers of Great Plains Dynamics customers are still on older versions, no longer supported by Microsoft Business Solutions: 8.0, 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0.  If you are on old version, running US Payroll thru Great Plains Dynamics, likely you are on 8.0, 7.5, or version 7.0.  There is a good news, however – even if you are on non-supported version of Great Plains Payroll, we still can update your tax tables.  Let’s review your options:

1.       Tax tables and Form design.  Tax rates and tax codes reside in UPR tax tables, so it is possible to update the records in these tables on Microsoft SQL scripting level.  Forms design – when you are printing 1099 or W-2 forms – you are actually printing Dynamics GP Dexterity report and this report and this report metadata or simply to say, format is stored in Dynamics.dic.  If IRS introduces W2 or 1099 forms format change – let’s say something like new check box – then it is too difficult to update Dynamics.dic report (however if you are larger organization, we could alter old W-2 or 1099 report in Great Plains Dexterity customization)

2.       Simple US Payroll tax update service.  We do it on the level of SQL insert and update statements for the customers across USA via remote connections and local support in Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Naperville, Aurora.  As described in #1 – you will get exact rates for the year 2009 and this should enable you to run Payroll checks in 2009

3.       Advanced US Payroll Tax Update for 2009 or the future years.  If you are committed to old legacy Dynamics GP Great Plains version of US Payroll module, and you can afford up to twenty consulting and Dynamics GP programming hours – we offer Great Plains Dexterity Customization to update W2 and 1099 forms if they will be changed in the future

4.       Great Plains remote support USA and Canada Nationwide.  If you are on old GP version and local Dynamics GP VAR tells you that they cannot afford to support you – we welcome you to call us for your old version support.  We are in Great Plains Dynamics consulting business since 1993 and we support all versions of Great Plains, plus Great Plains Accounting for DOS and Windows
