Having a slow computer is one of the usual dilemmas of computer users all over the world. Some PC users may decide to bring their computers to repair centers in order to improve PC performance. Take note though that this step is usually not necessary, and can be costly. To boost the PC, there are other techniques you can do that are usually free or require only very minimal fees:

1.    Fix the registry.

A ‘full’ registry, or a registry that has so many entries, or is corrupted with malware, worms, viruses, and all that, can cause your desktop or laptop to malfunction. If you don’t clean your PC’s registry, you’ll surely suffer from a slow computer. You can clean it yourself if you have the knowledge e.g. you graduated with a degree in Computer Studies, Computer Science, etc.

You can also rely on registry cleaning tools that clean and repair registries, and of course, improve PC performance. Remember though that registry cleaners come with price tags, but really low ones that will not hurt your budget.

2.    Create partitions in the hard disk.

Another good way to boost the PC aside from having to fix the registry is to make some partitions in the computer’s hard drive. The more partitions your laptop/desktop has, the easier it will be for the system to find the information or the data you require. Thus, if you make partitions in your PC’s hard disk, you’re less likely to experience a slow computer. It is advisable that each partition is assigned a memory of at least 5GB. Be sure too that you know what you’re doing as making mistakes with the partitioning process won’t improve PC performance, instead it will bring damage to the system.

3.    See to it that the computer is free from viruses, adware, etc.

To boost the PC effectively, it is also important that you make sure that it does not have Trojans, malware, and so on. Those programs normally target the computer’s registry, and causes ‘havoc’ within the system, therefore resulting to a slow computer. Aside from doing things that fix the registry, therefore, all computer owners should run reliable anti-virus programs that can detect malicious programs and clean them out of the PCs as well.
