Its OK, not even a bit of headroom which means plonk in and play.

So we have discussed the children,Mushkin HP 996578 PC2 8500 2GB Kit Articles and have promptly put them to bed, it's time for the adults to talk and do adult things. So let's bring out these naughties and discuss what they can do.

Um, no. As awesome as it would have been to be able to tell you of modules that gave us the same feelings as looking at naughty images during work hours we sadly cannot. These modules failed to impress, and we mean this, by a serious degree. At 1066MHz they do a good job, not exceptional however. There is something grand about saying you have RAM that reaches into the four digit region of speed and at stock speeds these modules do a good enough job.

Memory bandwidth and latency are better than the HP 9965765 and by a considerable margin. The HP 996578 modules bear the same blue heatsink that the HP 9965765 do, but heatsinks are common place nowadays. We expected more headroom out of these modules but were extremely disappointed when they refused to gain any significant extra performance. Forget 1200MHz, or even 1100MHz, these boys stay firmly seated in their 1066MHz armchairs.

For the sake of fairness these modules aren't too bad. Without worrying about overclocking or even playing with the latencies you will be very happy with these sticks. They do look good, they perform well at rated speeds, and they will provide adequate performance in a medium to high-end gaming rig. However we would again recommend 4GB for any persons wanting to run a 64-bit OS, which is what we recommend for a medium to high-end gaming rig. The price is of course great and 4GB would cost a rather affordable $130.

If you do buy a set or two you won't be disappointed, they will serve you well like C3PO would, except these sticks won't be as cool as C3PO would be, and they won't walk around either.
