It only involves a little bit of tweaking and installation. As you continue to change the settings in your computer, you will notice that its speed is increasing rapidly. The only catch when it comes to improving the speed of your computer is that your hardware should also be checked. If your hardware is based on an old technology then you might have a hard time spending up your computer even though you have followed all the steps below. Therefore, it is important to also check the parts of your computer in order to know if you need to change something or if you just need to buy a new unit. Here are some tips on how to improve your PC's' performance and speed.

Through browsing on the Windows Registry and through using the Performance information tools found within your Operating System you will be able to find out the exact reason as to why your computer is very slow. You will also be able to know if there are any viruses or threats found within your OS. In order to open the performance and information page you will need to click the start button found on the lower left side of your desktop. Once you have clicked the start button then head to the control panel icon. Now that you are in the Control Panel page you need to type the performance information and tools icon or you can simply use the search button on top of the screen. Click on the icon and check the various programs that are running in your device. You should already see some of the tasks that are found within your startup.

Another way to check on your startup is to use the msconfig.exe program found within your command prompt. In order to open this exe file you need to click on Run on your Windows. All you have to do is to type in "msconfig" within your command box and then press enter. You will then be entering a window where you will be able to change the startup and how your Operating System works. Some of the things that you can adjust are your startup selection or how your OS will turn on. You can select the normal boot, wherein you will be able to load all drives and services, or you can choose the diagnostic boot, wherein you will only choose selected files and drivers. On the selective area you will be able to choose if you will allow the system.ini or win.ini to run during boot.

When you are finished changing the boot settings then you can now head to the services and startup columns. The services column will show you all exe files that are currently running on your device while the startup column will show you all the programs that will be on once you open your computer. All you have to do is to check the programs on both your startup and your service column, if you do not recognize some of the apps there or if you find one which does not have a manufacturer then copy the name of the file. Get the file name and type in on your search engine. You should be able to find some information about that specific exe program. You can also check out the tools column in order to find the current version of your OS and to run the various tools that you can use in order to speed up your device.

Some of the services that you need to look out for are visual effects and indexing options. Adjust the visual effects in order to optimize the loading of your menus and desktop panels. You also need to adjust the indexing option in order to easily find the files that you are looking for. Adjust the power settings in order to save some virtual memory while at the same time it will allow you to resume your computer without spending too much time in the loading phase.

Finally, once you are done changing the configuration on the performance evaluation screen then you need to use advanced tools. Some advanced tools, such as disk defragmenter, system information, and event viewer are used by IT professionals in order to solve speed problems with Windows. View some of the notifications inside your registry along with problems with your hardware. Remember to update your drivers often in order to speed them up during the booting phase. During your free time you need to run the disk defragmenter tool in order to fix those loose clusters on your hard disk.
