Intel and AMD are the two greatest rivals in the world of processor manufacturing. But in my opinion Intel always has an upper hand because of having unbeatable research and development methodology in their work. They have a workforce which is trained to deliver the unmatched dedication towards the work. The Intel always brings something different,What’s new in Intel Third generation core processor (Ivy Bridge)? Articles innovative like a new bud in the nutshell and changes the world in their own way. Intel recently has launched third generation core processors i3, i5, i7. The microprocessor built on 22 nm die shrink thanks to the Tri-gate Transistor Technology a space miniature nano-scale transistor design that enables chip designers to have higher transistor densities which impulse out in efficient reduction in size. This technology consumes less power up to 20% as compared to 2nd generation core processor at similar performance level with 2-D planar transistor.

Features of Intel third Generation Processor:

·         The third generation processor uses a solid, 3D processor rather than 2D processor which offers increased performance and creates the fastest and smallest processor.

·         Intel third generation core processor has introduced the world about the two amazing technologies- ‘Turbo Boost technology and Hyper threading ’. By Turbo Boost technology the computer can dynamically change the clock frequency according to the task. Due to presence of this feature sometime this processor is also known as On Demand processor.

·         Intel has also used Hyper threading technology in which a single core processor is treated as two logical processors thus enables the processor to execute two concurrent data streams (threads) of instruction sent by operating system. This would result in better utilization of resources by the CPU.

·         It has improved instruction set which includes AVX and AES-NI acceleration.

·         Intel third generation processor is powered with Intel HD graphics 4000, which improves the 3D graphics of the PC providing the users with 3-D visual effects. This updated version of Intel HD graphics is compatible Direct X11(DX11). Intel HD Graphics will let users smoothly view online content like 1080p HD videos. It also helps GPU accelerated performance on other multimedia apps.

·         Intel Ivy Bridge also support PCI 3.0 express which is expected to carry a bit rate of 8 giga transfers per second (GT/sec). This new feature has enhanced signaling and data integrity, clock data recovery with transmitter and receiver equalization.

·         Intel Ivy Bridge supports DDR3L RAM for enhancing the speed and better performance.

·         It also supports USB 3.0 for faster data transmission between the computer and external devices.

Drawback of Ivy Bridge microarchitecture:

·         The Intel Ivy Bridge microarchitecture has shown a remarkable improvement in performance but nevertheless a glitch still exist i.e. “thermal stability “. Even at default voltage setting Intel Ivy microarchitecture shows 10 degree Celsius rise as compared to Sandy bridge microarchitecture. This is due to use of poor quality thermal interface material between the chip and heat spreader.

·         Incase of overclocking alleviated thermal stability of Ivy Bridge architecture is more pronounced and is one of the point which needs a lot of improvement.

So if you are going to buy a new processor or upgrading your computer setupthen Intel third generation processor i3, i5, i7 will be better option. You can enjoy the extremely fast processing and 3D visuals which has not experienced before.
