Plateau Phase of Lovemaking

In this article, we will discuss in brief about the second phase i.e. the plateau phase. In this phase, the testes draw still closer to the body as excitement increases and the level of tension develops. There is a specific rise of both testes towards the perineum. As sexual tension in men rises through plateau phase towards orgasmic phase release, the specific reaction of testicular elevation progresses until the pre-ejaculatory positioning in tight opposition to the male ejaculation is attained. This phase is a continuation of thee effect of stimulation, with the reaction becoming stronger and more constant breathing quickens. The penis enlarges slightly in diameter near its tips. The opening into the urethra from which the semen will ejaculate becomes more slit like. The tip and the head of the male organ change color to a deeper reddish purple. Finally the erection is intensified to the point of completion, and involuntary nervous tension so strong that the organ goes into tiny muscular spasms. The male organ provides its own lubrication by releasing small amount of semen containing sperm. Even without physical manipulation the lubrication may drip. If it is in the woman vagina at this moment, even if both partners do not experience any stimulation closer to orgasm, and sperms are deposited, it may cause pregnancy. For women, the inner two thirds of the vagina balloons, while the outer third narrows to about half its excitement phase in diameter. This helps the vaginal muscles both to grasp the penis more effectively and to produce a slight vacuum to suction out the seminal fluid. The vagina, after all, has been fashioned by nature to act as a repository of the stuff for survival of the species. In this phase the vaginal vault resembles a fennel, with the male organ inserted in the narrow end the sperms cradled in the wide end. The inner lips of woman labia minora now become a brighter red, as they become congested with blood. Inside the uterus which had begun to elevate during the excitement phase, now elevates fully; the muscles contract in the abdomen, around the groin, and trough the buttock region.
