Thus, to flush out those baseless myths, we have come up with this post. Just read through the entire article and see how the admission process actually goes in ISB. And how contradictory is it outside the institute between some misguided applicants.

Myth #1 - ISB Admission is more about GMAT scores (cut-off score of 700+ is required) Truth - With ISB, GMAT Score is important in some context but it’s just a meagre part of admission. There is a myth between students that ISB requires minimum 700 GMAT score but this is actually not true at all. Historically, according to the ISB’s statistics, there are only 25% of the entering division had a sub-700 score. It means that you must pay attention to all the aspects for admission like work profile, recommendations, academics, extracurricular and ISB essays apart from just focusing on GMAT Preparation.

Even in some cases, they have given entry to the candidates who had just 600 score counting their abilities and skills. At the same time, they had rejected the application of the candidates who were having even 750 or above score. The myth has been created by those who got rebuffed due to ineffective interview, poor ISB essays and other inabilities.

Myth #2 - At least 10 years of work experience is requiredTruth - The average work experience which is required is 3-6 years since, admission committee at ISB understands the goals of mid-career young professionals who seek for the ISB PGP to propel their vocation to the next level. At the same time, for the managerial positions such as Country head, candidates with 8-10 years of experience are worth considering.

Myth #3 - A Good Admission Essay is the only thing you need Truth - When preparing for the admission, applicants put a lot of emphasis on ISB Essays or Application Essays because it helps B-Schools to know about the candidate in a meaningful way. However, it’s also essential for the students to focus on the overall interview process rather than just being hooked into essays. Admission committee, while selecting applicants, consider each and every aspect of the students rather than making decision over a well-scripted essay.

Myth #4 - ISB is highly expensive Truth - There is a lot of speculations between the applicants people that ISB goes highly expensive in terms of fees, tuition fees etc. But, the fact is rather opposite because, ISB’s tuition fee is almost half of the typical fees charged by other B-Schools. Apart from that, there is also a facility of scholarships & loans while scholarship could manageably cover a higher portion of the cost, and loans cover almost all. Another advantage is that, as compared to other two years programme, here with 1 year courses at ISB, you can easily enrol into the industry and start earning. Counting all these perks, it fairly sounds reasonable, isn’t it?

Myth #5 - Mohali and Hyderabad Campuses Vary in terms of admission processTruth - Mohali campus is the part of ISB Hyderabad Campus and there is an incorporated admission process followed across both the campuses. During admission process, admission committee make all possible efforts to accommodate students with their selected campuses however, the surety of signing up with desired campus for students don’t seem to be possible in all the cases.
