Lots of discussions and talks are being heard around in almost every social circle and print and electronic media. People talk about universities and in the same vein mention the preliminary education in India. Every year, something new is being done by the government of India, towards strengthening the education at both primary and university level. But, major achievements have yet to be done, at least a major discovery or significant theoretical innovation is far from being concocted. But the scenario of education system in India is not all bleak and dark.

There have been bright spots in the horizon, which can spread a hope for future, for the students and the newcomers into the field of education. The basic level strengthening is being done through the means of stress on primary education across all sections of society. Those, who are privileged enough, are able to attend modern schools and convents. Residential and boarding schools, with high quality education are existent in some parts of the country. A few of these schools have long history, probably dating back to the British era. Most of the schools in India are affiliated to CBSE and ICSE boards, which are two important education controllers. Throughout India, there are schools which admit thousands of students, who go on to become graduates and post graduates after passing out from these affiliated schools. In recent years, as a makeover in the education system, grading system was introduced in the 10th standard, which has lowered the rush for securing top marks. Now, the grading system has been taken into account to provide admissions into the higher 12th standard courses. This is but a sign that shows that people higher up in the administration are giving the education system a thought.

At the elementary level, the chapter of school education was somewhat getting sidetracked. People from poorer backgrounds were not able to send their wards to the schools in the cities, and thereby their education was getting affected. Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan has been a strong step towards making elementary education available for all the students, especially empowering the girl child. Although such a system has come into force since a few years now, the implementation has been an issue. But with regular inputs from concerned individuals and societies, pressures are put on the government, as a result of which there are regular evaluations and corrections of issues at this level.

Higher education in India is somewhat looking bright, with more and more universities in the government and private levels coming up, in different parts of the country. Also, different types of courses, which were once unheard of in the country, are nowadays being extended to the interested students. Those courses, for which people were required to go overseas, are nowadays available in the universities, due to which the efflux of students has been stopped to a greater degree. The one thing that needs betterment is in the field of research and innovative work. This aspect is presently being looked after by recent installations and improvements, which provide logistic support for carrying out research activities. More and more innovations have been seen in various technological fieldPsychology Articles, although polishing of the system is further required.
