However, if done correctly, you can start your child on the right path to being organized for life. There are a few things that you should think about with this to help you get the results you are looking for.

The first thing you should do is look at the wooden blocks and then find the best way to organize them. This could be by shape, size, color or even another method. The important thing is to find a way that will be easy for your child to tell what belongs where. Then you will need to get the tools for organization. This could either be bins or an organizational unit.

When you first start implementing the organizational methods that you will use you want to make sure that you make it fun for the child. You could do this by making it into a game or even just sing a song to help them learn the right way to do it. In the beginning you may find that you have to pick up most of the wooden blocks on your own. Do not despair, it is part of leading by example and over time, they will pick up more and more. Remember to praise your child as they organize the blocks appropriately. If they do not, just correct them, but try not to be harsh, as this could make them not want to do it.

Over time, you should let them do more and more of the organization with the blocks. Then they will be doing it all on their own. You can even try to offer incentives for getting all of the wooden blocks organized accordingly. It does not have to be something big; kids love stickers and are usually a big motivator. Do not be discouraged if you have to remind them to pick up though, as this is just part of being a child.

Teaching your child about organization is very important to establish. This can affect many parts of their life, especially as they get older. The fundamentals they learn from organizing their wooden blocks can lead to them organizing their homework and even being able to balance out their schedule as an adult. Once you have them organizing their wooden blocks properly, you may want to move on to toys or other items that they have.
