The game is
calculated on the comparison of two hands, one hand for the player, and an
additional hand belonging to the banker. Each game has three possibilities. The
side with the score closest to the top score of nine wins. That may just be the
player wins, or the banker wins, or they draw. The foremost differentiator to
other casino card games is that tens and Jacks, Queens and Kings are all worth
zero. Aces are worth one point.
Cards ranging
from two – nine are all valued at their face value. Taking into account tens
are worth 0. If you were to have 3 cards all totalling 14 in face value, your
true score would be four. Instead of calling a zero, Zero, in Baccarat it is
recognized as “baccarat”. For example, if you had a three and were then dealt a
seven, you would have baccarat.
Frequently, in
most UK and US casinos you can place a bet on possibly either the player side,
the banker side or on the tie. If you are successful in winning a bet on the
tie, the ordinary odds you can expect to be paid out at is 8-1. If you elect to
place a bet on the banker side, usually the banker takes out 5% from your
profits, as a deduction for you betting on their cards.
The game is usually played from a single shoe having four, six or eight decks
of cards all shuffled together. When the cards are cut, the cutting card is
generally placed in front of the last seven cards. This makes certain that
there are sufficient cards for one last game ahead of a shuffle. At the start
of a game, two cards are dealt out, each one facing up. The first card is dealt
to the “player” and the second one to the “banker”. Often, the dealer will call
out who has what. For instance “Three to the player” then “6 to the bank”. The
dealer will then verify as per the drawing rules if the player or banker should
get a third card. The result is decided by checking the end result.
Standard bankers rule reports if the player has only two cards, the banker then
reviews his own hand. If the banker has 0-5 he can take a third card. He stays
on two cards if he has 6 or 7.
The games roots begun in Europe, and the game in its many versions has rapidly
become very broadly played in China, Japan and Asia on the whole. The game was
however, not so popular among Brits, until the past decade when it began
finding its way into casinos across Britain.
Some people suggest that this could one day be the new Blackjack, and finally
go on to be a well-known very widely played game.
