Baccarat is always played at the designated baccarat table. The typical American baccarat table has two ends. Both these sections are identical. The caller also known as the croupier occupies the middle section of the baccarat table. The six typical areas on a baccarat table are designated for the caller, the dealer, the second dealer, the drop box, the discard trays, and the tips box. 

About fourteen players can occupy a classic American baccarat table. Each player has a numbered designated seat. The umbers vary from one to fifteen since the supposedly unlucky number thirteen is excluded from the numbering. A player can just walk in and occupy any empty seat. The seat number or location does not affect the game play or the chances of winning.

Each player has three betting areas designated in front of his seat. The three betting areas are named per the kind of bets placed in them. The player betting area, the banker betting area, and the tie betting area are the three betting zones in front of each player. A player betting area is usually designated with a circle and so is the banker area. A number on the other hand designates the tie area.

At regular casinos, three dealers service a single table. The dealer located at a position in between the players number one and player fifteen is referred to the as the caller or the croupier. This caller is the dealer who directs the entire play and makes calls on the hands. The other two dealers are focused on players on their side. They service players one to seven and the other dealer services players eight to fourteen. The croupier tracks the commission that every player needs to pay based on how many of his banker bets won. The other two dealers collect wagers from players and pay out any wins. The baccarat dealers function much in the same way as craps dealers do. In American baccarat, the players deal the cards and hence the dealer watches very closely to ensure there is no foul play.
