If you're getting ready for a wedding reception, one of the first things you'll need to do is look through area banquet halls and find a place that suits your ceremony.
Any search of banquet halls is going to have to take cost into consideration first and foremost. Unless you have a benefactor willing to spend an unlimited amount of money, you'll have to work within your budget. Naturally, the reception itself is going to take a big chunk of your wedding budget. However, that doesn't mean you need to overspend to have a good time. Many facilities will charge according to how many people will be in attendance. Others will simply charge for the time, regardless of whether you have ten people or a thousand.
You can't have your wedding guests driving an endless path to get to the reception. It's always nice to have the ceremony and reception in the same area, but this is typically not possible. In lieu of this, try and find banquet halls near the location of your ceremony. You don't want to have a diminished reception because guests gave up trying to find the place or got frustrated with the distance and just decided to go home. Make it easy on your guests to celebrate this day with you by choosing a place that's easy to get to and close to the wedding location.
Banquet halls come in a lot of sizes. Take this into consideration when planning your reception. A hall that is far too large is going to look ridiculous and is going to cost far more than you need to spend. If you happen to get a deal on a huge space, however, there are things you can do to "cut off" part of the room and make it more suitable for the guest roster. Of course, a space that is far too small is a much bigger mistake. Don't make your guests feel as though they are cramped and uncomfortable. No matter how exciting you make the reception, guests are always going to be looking for excuses to check out early. Don't give them extra ones.
