Even if it is simply a restaurant you are applying for or even a thrift store, showing up in casual street clothes is never a great way to go.

The first thing you should be doing is to analyze the atmosphere of the company that you will apply for. Is it a laid-back atmosphere and are there a lot of cleaning duties or stocking tasks involved? Perhaps it’s a high-class establishment where employees are consistently dressed in Sunday best career apparel?

What you can try is to pop up one day and observe the other employees and what they are wearing.

You can talk to former employees about the expectations of the business’s supervisor.

If you desire to apply for a position with a big-league business like a bank or high-class retail store or an investment company then wear nothing short than a Formal Women wear or High-class polished career apparel.

It doesn’t matter even if you’re around your 20s, wearing something as though you’re ten years older will make you look mature and give you that bit of professional air.

That means replacing your contacts for glasses and your hair to be tied in a bun or tightly-secured pony tail. Make-up should be minimal, wearing no bright eye shadow or lipstick. Your outfit should be aiming for looking smart and sophisticated and being able to pull it off.

Formal women wear shouldn’t be hard and there are thousands of selection out there on the internet and even mall departments.

On the other hand if you interviewing for a more relaxed establishment such as a pet store, newspaper delivery or a construction worker then wearing a suit and tie can be a bit over the top. Go for casual tan corduroy or cotton pants and a long sleeved knit top if you are a man then for women adding a pair of small gold earrings will polish your casual look.
