Oklahoma gin rules
The rules of this game are very simple and easy to understand. Game is played between two players and you need only one standard deck. An ace in Oklahoma gin rummy is treated as lowest card, therefore A-2-3 is accepted but A-K-Q is not. All the number cards are equal to their face value. Each of the three face cards is equal to 10 points.
Dealer in Oklahoma rummy is chosen randomly and selected only for the first game. In rest of the games, player who wins the game become dealer in the next game. Duty of the dealer is to distribute 10 cards among each player. The next card is placed face up at table which starts the discarded pile. Remaining cards are placed face down which make the stock.
The objective of the game is to remove all your cards by melding cards. There are two types of meld in Oklahoma rummy, one is sequence and other is group. Three or four cards of same rank comprise a group and three or more than three cards in particular order are called sequence.
Playing Oklahoma rummy is also similar to gin rummy. The game starts with player who sits next to the dealer; he draws a card either from discarded pile or from stock. The player if needed can add that card into his cards and throw another card in spite of that card in discarded pile. The first player to meld his card in combination of sequence and group knocks the other player.
After knocking, each player calculate the value of their cards, if the player who knocks has more value than rival then he gets points equal to the variation between score of both players. If knocker scores less than opponent then, other player scores points and gets the difference between the two hands.
